GHS OBITUARY
Duane “Bucky” Hope (GHS ’42), who played on Gulf’s 1941-42 winningest football team, died on July 21. You can see his picture here and here.

NEW WEB SITE FOR GULF ALUMNI
While we encourage alumni to use our own alumni page to post messages for your classmates, we have placed a link on that page to another Gulf alum web site, with some advanced features, set up in August 2008 by a Springstead graduate.

REGISTRATION IS TUESDAY, AUGUST 12
Our registration for all students will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will be able to obtain updated class schedules and pay fees. Students can also tour the school and meet many of their teachers. The alternate registration period is Wed., Aug. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Classes begin on Aug. 18. Our Open House will be held on Aug. 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

RETIRED GULF TEACHER HONORED BY THE GOVERNOR
Glenn Kelm, who taught business at Gulf in the 1980s and 1990s, received an award for his volunteer work from Governor Crist. The St. Petersburg Times article is here.

NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL NAMED FOR GULF HIGH SCHOOL
Mr. Douglas L. Elias has been named Gulf’s Assistant Principal for Adult/Community Education. He replaces Mr. Palma, who has retired. Some information about Mr. Elias is on the administration page.
